Great, great movie! All of the actors did an amazing job capturing the intensity, emotion, and discomfort. I was literally on the edge of my seat and my teeth were clenched whenever Trevante Rhodes and Shamier Anderson appeared in a scene together. I also loved the on and off lighting effects during the final fight scene. The red spotlight was reminiscent of scary things like blood or oncoming police sirens. And bravo to the young man, Jayln Hall. He is phenomenal!
That final fight scene does so well of capturing violence without sensationalising it.
I cannot stop thinking about the scene where Malcolm walks around the house after Porter picks up Darious. It's straight out of a horror playbook. You *know* that Porter and Darious are outside. But the tension is still there? And it's not because a ghoul in a mask is gonna jump out from the shadows, its because Malcolm's rage is in those shadows, and once he realises that Porter's taken his kid, Malcolm is going to let that rage erupt. It's all captured so expertly. I'm really glad you enjoyed it, too!!
